Senior British League Conference

1 - General
This year's British League Conference was rather poorly attended but those delegates present still put forward various ideas about how the presentation of the Sport can be improved. Delegates would like to see reporting of the weekend's matches updated on the ETTA Web-Site as the games are taking place throughout the weekend. This request applies particularly to the Premier division. One delegate pointed to the fact that with ETTA Communications Officer Richard Pettit present at the Women's British League matches this has been achieved very successfully and therefore it should be possible to achieve the same at the Senior British League weekends as well.

The amount of publicity generated to cover the Premier Division matches was still a course of concern to some delegates. There had been some pre-event publicity generated by the British League Committee for Premier Division matches but in general it was being left to the Event Organisers to "sell" the weekends. As such the numbers of people attending these events were still quite disappointing. It was hoped to improve on this next Season.

Another proposition was that Clubs who take the time to attend the British League Conference should be rewarded financially for doing so. Clubs who fail to attend should be required to "dig into their pockets" to pay the "pooled" expenses of those Clubs who are represented. Since such a System works very well with the County Championships Annual Conference it was felt to be right to apply it to the British League Conference as well.

2 - Constitution for Next Season
The Constitution of next year's British League was circulated and the main change is the fact that there will be three Division Ones next year. As such three teams will be relegated from next year's Premier Division. New Club TTK Greenhouse have entered three sides and their leading team have been placed in Division One (South & Midlands).

3- Player of the Season Awards
The Player of the Season Awards were presented. The brilliant Yue Jiao Wu (Oxford Fire Place Centre I) became the first Lady in the British League's 27 year history to receive the British League Overall Player of the Season Award. Phil Ogier ( Guernsey), the recipient of five Player of the Match nominations was a slightly surprising Winner of the Division 3 South & West Award, ahead of the undefeated Darek Zurowski (Guinness Polska). It was great to see that the country's better Junior players were very well represented with Ben Barlow (Rotherham Scorpions), Ashley Stokes (London Progress III), Allan Fullwood ( Chesterfield) and Richard Marshall (DML Woolwell II) amongst the Winners.
