Three Progress juniors carried home trophies at the K2 Crawley Butterfly Grand Prix held on 24-25 June 2006.
Lil 'D', Daniel Ives, won Band 4 and was runner up to Sam Perry in the under 21. Yasir Mauthoor won the Band 3 event defeating Simon Donnelly in the final. A brilliant way for Yasir to end his final season as a junior.
For the women, 15 year old, Hannah Hicks won Band 3 and was runner up to Claire Wilson in the under 21. That final was a close affair with Hannah losing 9-11 in the fifth.
The highlight for many was the clash of Progress father and son duo, Daniel and Peter Ives, in the open singles. This was their first meeting in a major tournament. Daniel, fresh from his first year at the Filton College Table Tennis Academy, came out the winner, but only just. Dad Peter gave him a real fright by having match point in the 4th. But Daniel prevailed and came out winner in the 5th at 11-5.
