Ramone Campbell, rapidly improving London Progress Cadet, won a highly competitive West London LJTTS Tournament at the weekend. In the quarter final he saw off a fierce challenge from England hopeful, Igor Morais of the West London Academy before going on to dispose of defence expert Ryan Maynard also from the WLA. In the final, Campbell had to contend with Wembley High School female star,Shushmita Limbu, who like Ramone had had to eliminate two WLA challengers, Prevesh Locknaugh and William Morais, to reach the final. In a highly charged final, Ramone was able to power his way through the highly skilful long-pimple play of Shushmita. Wembley High/TTK are to be congratulated for their huge and well-disciplined contingent of players, so many in fact that they had to hire a coach to transport their squad. That must be a first in the 25-year history of the LJTTS!

DHS London Progress has just learnt that one of its members, Mark Spinks, has been selected to represent the UK in a Special Olympics event in Japan. Mark, who has been coached by ETTA Young Coach of the Year, Bhavin Savjani, said he would be proudly wearing his London Progress t-shirt while on international duty. The determination with which Mark has worked to overcome his disabilities to reach a highly competitive table tennis level is an inspiration to the whole club. Best of luck Mark.
