Egle Adomelyte, one of our more handsome players, joined London Progress in the first half of the 2000-2001 season when London was located at Willesden High School. Egle has since been characterised by her seriousness both on and off the table. She would win against anyone, be it a club match, local league match or otherwise, all without a smile. Egle is well known for her solemn approach to play and training with a mental attitude to match. Other players would do well to mimic her approach to get the best out of each training session.

Egle works hard during practice and, while a very talented player, would not hesitate to do many of the very mundane club-running activities. She does this with a humility that should shame many other lesser players. Egle is to be much admired and not taken for granted.

Tony: You LOVE/PREFER* playing against what type/style of player?
Egle: It depends more on a player, rather than a style. Everything is loveable when you win!

Tony: What was the funniest table tennis encounter you have ever had?
Egle: When I was introduced to HARD BATT, at Progress!

Tony: How do you manage to combine sport and study/work?
Egle: I JUST manage, but it balances by itself, too! When I do good in sport, I want to do good in my studies, and the other way round. They stimulate each other!

Tony: What other sport would you be playing at a high level if you were not playing table tennis?
Egle: It's either this or nothing! But, I guess, I would like to be involved in any other sport anyway, it's just generally good for you! (as if you didn't know that, anyway)

Tony: What other sports do you play casually at any level?
Egle: I muck around with anything, if there is a (rare) opportunity! But it's below any level there could ever be!!!

Tony: Have you ever been intimidated by anyone during a match or event?
Egle: Yeah, when everything goes dead quiet, everybody stops and stares. Get on with your own lives!!!

Tony: Have you ever knowingly intimidated another player?
Egle: Not, as far as I know! I don't like to be intimidated myself, so I don't intimidate others either, just in case it turned the other way round! 'Cause usually it does, well at least from my point of view!

Tony: Have you ever felt let down by a team-mate during an important match that you lost?
Egle: Yes, when I was playing for Lithuania, for cadets and juniors. Lithuanian teams didn't seem to be too "teamy".
