Table-Tennis is a game of skill involving footwork, timing, anticipation, confidence, understanding, aggression and application. Most of all, many things need to be 'right' and through understanding, almost any player can improve their game.
Most players would rather play than try to learn from watching other players play. There is however much that can be gained from doing this. These videos make it possible to do just that. For best results consider doing the following.
Put your media player on repeat and watch each video a few times.
Play the videos paying attention to the following aspects of the game.
1 - Note how easily the player moves around the table - footwork
2 - Note how long/short the player's strokes are ready for the next hit
3 - Note exactly when the ball is hit in relation to the top of the bounce.
4 - Try to determine exactly what causes the amount of spin.
5 - Note where the player's body is in relation to where it ends up - body positioning
6 - Note also where the player's body when the ball is placed over the table - positioning
7 - Try to figure out what aspect of the player's action is responsible for the power.
8 - Try to work out why the player would be considered a good player
9 - Lastly try to figure out why the player is able to repeat the action over and over
10- Note the position of the elbow of the playing hand (especially the backhand)
11- Try to see the arcs that are created when the player hits the backhand and the forehand
12- Notice too that the speed of the playing hand as the ball is hit.
